Supporting young tech talent through hands-on learning

by ProductDock

At ProductDock, we believe that knowledge sharing and continuous learning play an important role in strengthening the local IT community and inspiring future technology professionals.

As part of this commitment, our software engineer, Ladislav Milunović, recently held a workshop on Java and Spring framework for students at the grammar school “Jovan Dučić” in Doboj. The workshop introduced participants to key concepts of modern software development and provided practical insights into technologies widely used in the industry today.

Through a combination of theory, real-world examples, and interactive discussions, students had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of backend development and explore potential career paths in software engineering. The session also offered a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom knowledge with real industry practices.

Encouraging curiosity through practical learning

Reflecting on the experience, Ladislav highlighted the students’ curiosity, engagement, and willingness to learn:

“It was a pleasure to work with such motivated students. Their questions and interest in software development showed a genuine desire to learn and grow. I hope the workshop helped them gain a clearer picture of what a career in IT can look like and encouraged them to continue exploring technology and programming.”

For many students, workshops like this provide a first opportunity to engage with technologies and concepts used in professional software development environments. By sharing practical knowledge and real-world experiences, we aim to help bridge the gap between education and industry while encouraging young people to explore opportunities in the IT sector.

Building long-term connections between education and industry

This workshop marked the end of another school year and another successful chapter in our ongoing collaboration with the grammar school in Doboj. Over the past two years, we have worked together to provide students with opportunities to gain practical insights into software development and learn more about careers in the IT industry.

By connecting education with real-world experience, we aim to help young talents better understand the opportunities available to them and support their professional development. We look forward to continuing this collaboration in the years ahead and inspiring even more students to explore the world of technology and software engineering.
