End-of-year knowledge-sharing day at ProductDock

by ProductDock

The end-of-year knowledge-sharing day in Doboj has become a valued tradition for our Bosnian team, a moment each year when we pause, come together, and learn from one another.

Once again, colleagues gathered to share experiences from the year behind us, exchange ideas, and reflect on the challenges and successes of the past year.

Key takeaways from the event

Through open discussions and shared experiences, we celebrated not only professional growth but also the strong sense of community that defines our team.

Visualizing architecture with the C4 Model

Our software engineer, Ladislav Milunović, opened the knowledge-sharing day with a session on the C4 model, a practical and standardized approach to visualizing software architecture.

The lecture demonstrated how clear, consistent diagrams can help teams better understand complex systems, enhance communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and establish a shared architectural language across projects.

Integration testing with Spring Boot and Testcontainers

In his presentation, our software engineer, Bojan Ćorić, focused on real-world best practices for implementing robust integration testing in Spring Boot applications.

Through concrete examples, participants learned how Testcontainers can be used to automatically spin up real dependencies such as PostgreSQL, Kafka, and Redis in Docker containers, enabling more reliable and production-like testing environments.

ElasticSearch: Search trilogy – Part 3

Our software engineer, Nemanja Marić, dedicated his third chapter of the Search trilogy to ElasticSearch, a powerful and widely adopted platform for indexing and searching data. The session explained how ElasticSearch organizes and processes data, highlighted its core features, and discussed practical advantages and limitations.

A live demonstration illustrated the search process and index management, followed by a comparative overview of Azure AI Search, Apache Solr, and ElasticSearch, helping teams choose the right solution based on their business needs.

Spring security in practice: Selective access without JWT

Our software engineer, Tihomir Malešević, led an efficient session that walked us through a real project challenge involving selective API access. Tihomir explained how specific endpoints were exposed without JWT authentication while keeping the rest of the application secured.

The talk covered technical constraints, integration with external services, and the decision to secure a GET endpoint using an API key, highlighting the trade-offs and security implications involved.

Implementing passkeys: From WebAuthn theory to code

Shifting focus to modern authentication, our software engineer, Nemanja Vasić, introduced passkeys and the fundamentals of WebAuthn in his talk.

We gained an understanding of how passkeys work, why they matter, and how they can improve security and user experience. Where time allowed, practical code examples helped bridge the gap between theory and real-world implementation.

Point Zero diet: Using carbohydrates wisely

Rounding out the program, our software engineer, Savo Sabljić, stepped beyond pure tech topics with his Point Zero diet session, offering insights into how carbohydrates can be used deliberately and effectively as a tool, rather than a constant burden.

The talk sparked reflection on balance, discipline, and sustainable habits, resonating well beyond the scope of nutrition alone.

Beyond the sessions

Between sessions, our team used the opportunity to enjoy some time together and celebrate significant milestones. We marked Dragan Jović’s 10th anniversary in the company, recognized our 2025 top contributors, and wrapped up the event with the final 2025 eFootball Cup tournament, adding a competitive and fun close to a day defined by learning, collaboration, and shared success.

Moving forward together to 2026

As we look ahead to 2026, the End-of-year knowledge-sharing day in Doboj once again reaffirmed the values that guide us — curiosity to keep learning, adaptability to embrace change, reliability in how we work together, and empathy in how we support one another.

These shared moments of learning and connection not only closed the year on a strong note but also set a confident foundation for continued growth and success in the year to come.
