Tech roadmap: From school to first IT job

by ProductDock

Our initiative to shape the future of the next generation of IT leaders continues this year at the “Jovan Dučić” grammar school in Doboj.

Our software engineers, Maja Đajić and Milica Koprena, conducted a workshop, “Tech roadmap: From school to first IT job,” for students in the Information Technology (IT) section of “Jovan Dučić” grammar school.

Maja and Milica talked about their experience of getting to know the world of information technologies through high school classes and their studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. They also spoke about their experiences in the Rookie Boot Camp internship, and the early stages of their careers at ProductDock.

The students gained firsthand insights about the challenges of IT internships, the details of technical interviews, the value of mentorship, and the importance of knowledge sharing with colleagues.

Key takeaways for students

Ultimately, the girls wrapped up the workshop by summarizing key takeaways with the students. They emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing among colleagues, as collaboration is essential for both personal growth and the company’s overall success.

Milica and Maja also highlighted that teamwork plays a vital role in achieving individual and collective goals, while patience and consistent effort are essential for overcoming challenges and advancing in one’s career.

They also underscored the importance of learning English, as it is a fundamental skill for communication and success in the global IT industry.

Moving forward with this initiative

Over the upcoming period, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with the grammar school in Doboj. Sessions like this will provide valuable insights and hands-on knowledge, helping students develop practical skills and industry-specific expertise.
