Unlocking the cloud: Workshop on cloud computing for students

by ProductDock

Our software engineer, Danijel Dragičević, held the final workshop for students in the Information Technology (IT) section of “Jovan Dučić” Grammar School in Doboj.

With this workshop, we concluded our successful collaboration with them for this school year.

Unlocking the cloud: Workshop on cloud computing for students

What is cloud computing, and why does it matter?

Danijel introduced students to the fundamentals of cloud computing – how it works, how it’s built, why it matters, and what the future might look like. He opened the workshop with questions about familiar platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Google Docs to make the topic more engaging. Encouraging students to think about where their videos, photos, and documents are actually stored.

The basics: How does the cloud work?

Danijel explained to the students that cloud computing is all about using someone else’s powerful computers (servers) over the internet instead of relying only on their own devices.

These servers handle storage, processing, and networking, allowing us to access apps, files, and services from anywhere.

How is the cloud built, and why does it matter?

Danijel went on to explain that the cloud is built using data centers, virtualization, containers, and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).

He emphasized that cloud computing offers speed and efficiency, allowing companies to rent resources and scale instantly without expensive hardware. With anytime, anywhere access, enhanced security, and the ability to support AI, machine learning, and big data, the cloud keeps your files safe and enables cutting-edge innovation.

What’s next for cloud computing?

Danijel concluded with thoughts on the future of cloud computing, highlighting faster systems, AI-driven automation, and edge computing – which brings processing closer to users to reduce delays.

He left the students with a playful warning: as the cloud continues to shape industries like gaming, healthcare, and space exploration, the next time you stream a movie or play a game, remember — you’re part of this evolving technology!

Concluding a successful collaboration and looking to future opportunities

We’ve just wrapped up an excellent collaboration with the “Jovan Dučić” Grammar School in Doboj. We had the pleasure of working with great students and teachers and shared our knowledge and experience with them.

We have finished this school year, and we hope that in the future, we will have the opportunity to continue our cooperation – supporting, inspiring, and guiding the next generation of IT professionals.

Stay tuned for what’s next.
